About the Role
The Senior Financial Systems Accountant position is a critical role in in the configuration, optimisation, and integration of Council’s financial systems, including the OneCouncil platform. This position ensures financial systems are aligned with statutory reporting obligations, operational requirements, and strategic objectives, while supporting the delivery of Council’s Digital Transformation Program.
The role works closely with Finance, IT, and Asset Management teams, as well as external vendors, to ensure the integrity of financial data, compliance with accounting standards, and continuous improvement of financial system functionality.
In collaboration with the Section Manager and the leadership team within Digital Transformation, the role supports enterprise software implementations and financial system enhancements that improve transparency, efficiency, and service delivery across Council.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with proven experience in a similar role within Local Government. You will bring with you demonstrated success in supporting and configuring complex financial systems and contributing to enterprise software implementations and digital transformation initiatives.
In addition, you will have extensive experience applying structured financial and project methodologies, such as PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile or ITIL, including financial system planning, risk management and stakeholder reporting.
As would be expected, strong communication skills are a must together with strong analytical skills and the ability to collaborate across the organisation to build strong relationships to drive outcomes that add value to the organisation and community.
