A unique opportunity now exists to join the Council and promote Launceston to the world as Senior Economic Development Officer .
The Role
Sitting within the Economic Development and Analytics Team (SEDA) under the Innovation and Performance (I&P) group, the role of Senior Economic Development Officer , will lead the strategic development and delivery of economic initiatives that drive the long-term prosperity of the City of Launceston. This role provides expert economic advice, champions business attraction, facilitates the expansion and relocation of businesses, and shapes policy frameworks that respond to emerging trends and unlock regional economic opportunities.
You will play a key role in role in precinct activation, building strong industry partnerships and innovation ecosystems, and embedding economic intelligence into Council’s decision-making.

About You
As a creative thinker, you will be comfortable generating alternatives, visualising new possibilities, challenging assumptions and opening yourself up to new information.
With proven experience at building relationships across industry, government and the community,
Familiarity of relevant legislation within the Local Government context whilst not essential, would be an advantage as would a knowledge and understanding of the broader changing social, political, and economic issues facing the region.
Past experience of attracting investment or working on public–private partnerships, together with a familiarity of grant programs that support tourism and regional infrastructure would be a further advantage.
Lastly, it is expected that the successful applicant will hold relevant Tertiary Qualifications in economics, business, business management, or related field,
