Government & NFP

The Hawkesbury is a unique area located in the Hawkesbury River Valley. It is the largest Local Government Area in the Sydney Metropolitan Region, with a growing population currently sitting at 68,704.

The Hawkesbury and its townships, rural villages and landscapes share a rich and enduring Indigenous and European cultural heritage. Straddling the divide between urban metropolitan councils to its east and rural councils to its west, the Hawkesbury is classified as a metropolitan-rural area — a distinctive community with equally distinctive needs.

The region’s historical and cultural assets are actively used by the community to support cultural expression, tourism and economic activity, remaining integral to the future identity and continuing stories of the Hawkesbury.

About The Role
As Manager Resource Recovery reporting to the Director Infrastructure Services, you will provide leadership and direction to the Resource Recovery Branch, taking accountability for its performance and the delivery of high-quality waste and resource recovery services to the Hawkesbury community.

The Branch is responsible for kerbside waste and recycling collection, operation and maintenance of Council’s Waste Management Facility, and planning for future waste and resource recovery servicing. You will develop, implement, monitor and review strategies and business plans in a dynamic statutory and commercial environment, all in pursuit of Council’s broader purpose of building a Hawkesbury that is loved by its people.

You will also be an active contributor to the broader Infrastructure Services Division, working collaboratively with other Branches and providing tactical and strategic support to the Director and Executive.

About You
At the heart of this role is leading, mentoring and coaching the Resource Recovery Branch to deliver high-quality outcomes and services to the Hawkesbury community. Therefore, we are seeking a highly motivated individual who thrives on developing and implementing innovative solutions and building high-performing teams.

You will bring tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Waste Management or a relevant technical discipline (or demonstrated equivalent experience), as well as previous demonstrable experience in a similar role.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity to make a genuine difference in how the Hawkesbury community manages its resources for future generations – don’t miss out.
