Head of Strategic Operations

Growth doesn’t happen by accident.

Liverpool City Council is building something different - an Office of the CEO – to activate opportunity by capitalising on strategic opportunities, driving revenue generation and optimising the property portfolio.

As capital of Southwest Sydney and home to over 250,000 people with a projected population of 352,000 by 2046, Liverpool is building a reputation as a globally connected city with the addition of the new Western Sydney International Airport.

A shining example of transformation, sustainability and renewal, the community is forging a strong local identity, as one of the state’s oldest local government areas whilst being one of its newest cities.

The Role
This is a unique opportunity in a unique local government organisation.

As Head of Strategic Opportunities, sitting within the office of the CEO and reporting to the Senior Manager Strategic Portfolio, the position is a high-trust, high impact role.

This is not a typical managing services, business-as-usual government role. In essence, your raison d’Être will be to sell Liverpool and its global precincts to the world, by identifying, designing and then delivering opportunities that position Liverpool and the LGA, as one of the most forward thinking and dynamic cities in Australia.

By using established project management methodologies, you will lead and deliver high-impact, cross-functional projects that align with the Governing Body and the stated objectives of the Community Strategic Plan, ensuring effective planning, execution, and stakeholder engagement. This position will encompass the full project lifecycle from project inception through to project delivery.

About You
Commercially aware, you will be an outcomes focused leader with deep experience in project management, procurement and/or contract management. Whilst beneficial, previous in-depth experience of government is not essential. More so the role will suit an individual who is prepared to challenge the status quo, and who thrives upon innovation and new ideas.

As would be expected of such a role, highly developed communication and advocacy skills are essential.

Liverpool City Council is on a path of generational growth - be a part of its success.
