The Role
Sitting within the Economic Development and Analytics Team (SEDA) under the Innovation and Performance (I&P) group, the role of Economic Development Officer , will implement economic and business development initiatives that contribute to the long-term prosperity of the City of Launceston. The role enables business and industry growth through strategic project delivery, data-driven insights, and continuous improvement in service delivery.
Indeed, the role coordinates cross-organisational collaboration, manages internal and external stakeholder relationships, and oversees key initiatives including Sister City programs, memberships, and reporting.
The position ensures economic development activities are aligned with Council priorities and delivered in a professional, timely, and outcomes-focused manner, supporting the city’s economic resilience and vibrancy.
About You
To be successful in this role you will either hold tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or be able to demonstrate proven experience in either business development or commercial industry.
Proven experience at building relationships across industry, government and the community is required as is the ability to deliver strategic projects that make a real impact upon economic and/or visitor-economy growth.
Lastly, as a creative thinker, you will be comfortable generating alternatives, visualising new possibilities, challenging assumptions and opening yourself up to new information.
