We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Business Analyst with a strong background in the Energy and Utilities sector to join our team and lead various reform projects.
This is a pivotal leadership role where you’ll guide a small team of Business Analysts to deliver critical regulatory and market reform initiatives.
This hands-on position requires a deep understanding of Energy market frameworks, and the ability to translate complex AEMO-driven regulatory changes into actionable business and technology outcomes.
You’ll be responsible for prioritising and directing the activities of the FTA BA team (1 x Senior BA, 2 x Business Analysts), ensuring alignment to project objectives, timelines, and business and customer experience goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a small team of Business Analysts, providing structure, guidance, and prioritisation across all FTA-related workstreams.
- Translate AEMO’s Flexible Trading Arrangement changes into detailed business and system requirements, ensuring full traceability and regulatory alignment.
- Drive end-to-end analysis activities from discovery through implementation, maintaining focus on both business value and customer experience.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align project objectives with regulatory, operational, and system outcomes.
- Facilitate workshops, define requirements, and manage dependencies in a fast-paced, reform-driven environment.
- Ensure effective communication, collaboration, and delivery across BA, project, and technical teams.
- Support benefits realisation and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
- Bring leadership and stability to a team undergoing recent change, fostering a positive, high-performance culture.
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- Strong Energy / Utilities industry experience with proven exposure to regulatory reform, market compliance, or network transformation projects.
- Hands-on understanding of the National Electricity Rules (NER) and Flexible Trading Arrangements (FTA) framework.
- Experience leading and mentoring Business Analysts within large, complex projects or programs.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage executives, regulators, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent facilitation, problem-solving, and communication skills with a people-first approach.
- Ability to align analysis and delivery activities to both business and customer outcomes.
- Experience working in hybrid Agile/Waterfall environments and familiarity with tools such as Jira and Confluence.
