The Role
  
As the Grid Connection Manager, you will play a critical role in leading the grid connection process for renewable energy developments, including wind farms and BESS. You will work collaboratively with the development, engineering and commercial teams to ensure that grid-related decisions enhance project value and contribute to strong commercial and operational outcomes.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead grid connection strategy development for each project from feasibility through to commissioning
  • Providing clear and practical technical input into investment cases, project budgets, and risk assessments
  • Ensuring that grid connection strategies are aligned with broader business and project objectives.
  • Lead the negotiation and finalisation of connection agreements, performance standards and associated technical schedules with NSPs
  • Identify feasible connection points, assess grid capacity and system strength, and optimise network access
  • Manage external consultants for connection studies, modelling, and power system assessments

This is a rare opportunity to join the Grid Connections team for one of the world’s largest energy producers, specialising in Wind and BESS generation. This is an exciting time to join the group as they have ambitious growth plans for the Australian market, looking to consolidate themselves as an industry leader.
Working in a team of 6, you will report directly into the GM, working on a very strong nation-wide pipeline of projects.
  
The Candidate
The successful candidate will exhibit:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or other discipline relevant to power systems analysis
  • 7 or more years’ experience with at least 3 years in grid connection, transmission planning or power system engineering
  • Demonstrated experience managing the AEMO and NSP connection process for renewable projects.
  • Deep understanding of NER Chapter 5 performance standards and AEMO’s R0 – R2 processes
  • Familiarity with power system modelling tools (PSSE, PSCAD and PowerFactory)
