Our client is a well-established organisation with a significant property and social infrastructure portfolio, seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join the team delivering one of the most significant health and innovation precinct projects currently underway in South East Queensland. Reporting to the Development Director, this is a rare opportunity to take on a senior commercial leadership role at the heart of a large-scale, multi-stage project.
The roleAs Commercial Manager, you will provide strategic commercial expertise and oversight across the full life of the project, acting as the key point of contact for commercial matters and managing the interface between the project team, government stakeholders and delivery partners. Leading a small commercial team, you will direct the commercial project management of Development Agreement activities, oversee complex construction and service contracts, and provide the strategic advice needed to keep a high-profile, multi-party development on track.
Key responsibilities- Manage the commercial interface with state government health and hospital authority's commercial, property and development team
- Direct commercial project management of Development Agreement activities, including Stage Commencements, Stage Completions and Critical Milestones
- Lead negotiations and provide strategic guidance across development partners, builders, contractors and government stakeholders
- Oversee the preparation, negotiation and finalisation of construction, service and facility management contracts
- Provide strategic commercial advice on the Development Agreement and support multiple stage developers with contract management
- Identify, manage and mitigate contractual and project risk
- Lead reporting on project performance, including monthly governance and steering committee reporting
- Lead and develop a small commercial team, and champion compliance, governance and WH&S obligations across the project
You are a commercially astute leader with a track record of managing complex, high-value agreements in the construction, development or infrastructure sectors. You bring:
- Demonstrated commercial project management experience in a complex, high-budget, multi-party environment
- In-depth understanding of contractual agreements relating to property development, construction and/or facilities management
- Proven ability to establish and administer service agreement contracts with multiple providers
- Expert negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with strong attention to detail and communication (written and oral)
- A minimum of five years' experience in a comparable senior role within construction, development, infrastructure or a related field
- A degree in business, commerce, law, engineering or construction management
