Capstone Recruitment has been appointed to recruit an Assistant Design Manager on behalf of Western Sydney University.

The Assistant Design Manager is responsible for supporting design management and space planning as a member of the design and planning team at Western Sydney University.   The Assistant Design Manager will report to the Program Design Manager. They will participate in the delivery of small to medium size projects focused on interior alterations to university buildings including workspace, teaching space, laboratories, student spaces and public domain. This role will also contribute to the space management team by participating in space monitoring, policy refinement, space strategy and test fits. The position also monitors spaces changes and ensures the University’s space database is accurate and up to date.


Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in architecture or interior design with 2-5 years of design and construction industry experience in larger or complex organisations. Prior design management experience would be an advantage.
  • Well-developed visual presentation skills with the ability communicate ideas clearly and succinctly to different stakeholders and produce high quality presentation materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce test fits with-in a wide variety of space typologies including workplace, learning, specialised and technical spaces.
  • Demonstrated capability with applications including ArchiCAD, Adobe and Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of data management applications such as Microsoft Excel and exposure to databases will be an advantage. Ability to analyse, interpret and visualise data will be well suited to this position.
  • Analytical thinker, inspired by innovative ideas and committed to good design.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. 
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills, the capacity to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines. 
  • Proactively and autonomously develop solutions to resolve conflicting interests.
  • Driver's license and the ability to attend multiple sites across Western Sydney.
  • Experience with the design of agile work environments would be an advantage.
