The Facilities Officer will be allocated a section of the asset portfolio to manage maintenance requests for (e.g. multi-storey car parks and surf lifesaving clubs) managing building maintenance requests (for HVAC, lighting, plumbing and other maintenance needs) from staff, clients and building managers. You would also be allocated 1 external contractor to manage (e.g. fire services/compliance).
This role reports into the Manager, Facilities Management & Services (who has worked at Council for 7.5yrs). This position is to cover a recent resignation of a longstanding staff member. During this temp contract, Council will likely advertise the role permanently and this person is encouraged to apply.
Assignment Overview
- Based at 1 Boondah Rd, Warriewood (operational depot)
- Paying between $54 to 64ph + super
- Flexible hours (start anytime between 7am to 9am)
- Working Monday to Friday only (7 hrs pr day, 35hrs per week)
- Free street parking onsite

Key Duties
Responsible for day-to-day operations of the maintenance function for a diverse section of Councils property/asset portfolio (spread across the Northern Beaches), tasks include:
- effective and timely responses to property maintenance requests from staff at Northern Beaches Council
- inspection of client requests (property maintenance/repair needs) – assess at what works are needed (create a plan of attack), assess requirements/resources needed, allocating tasks to either internal trades or external contractors
- co-ordinating and supervising a broad range of building and infrastructure maintenance services (HVAC, plumbing, electricians & cleaning)
- management of contractors including site induction, contract performance and progress payments (ensuring all State Government and Council regulations relating to the works are adhered to)
- preparing building services contracts, work specifications, work orders, service level agreements, performance targets and delivery of minor projects, issuing payment of invoices once works are completed.
About You
You will have a background as a Facilities Assistant, Facilities Coordinator, Facilities Officer, Facilities Manager, Building Maintenance. You will be easy going, have a good sense of humour, be a good team player and willing to learn new skills/areas of expertise. Exposure to fire safety/fire services/fire compliance would be beneficial.
