We currently seek an experienced Business Analyst (Finance) to support key financial and system transformation initiatives for a government department.
This role sits within a cross-functional project team focused on improving finance systems, processes, and compliance outcomes through ICT-enabled change.
You’ll work closely with stakeholders across business units to drive discovery, map out current and future state processes, and define high-quality requirements that contribute to improved operational efficiency and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead stakeholder workshops and meetings to gather and validate financial and business process requirements
- Develop business cases outlining benefits, risks, and implementation options
- Analyse and document current (as-is) and future (to-be) processes using BPMN/UML
- Prepare functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and process documentation
- Support organisational change through process improvement and user-centric solutions
- Collaborate with delivery teams, vendors, and SMEs to ensure solutions meet business needs
- Contribute to testing strategies and ensure traceability of requirements through to delivery
- 5+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst or Finance Analyst, ideally in a regulated or complex environment
- Demonstrated experience with finance systems, process improvement, and business case development
- Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills
- Experience working in Agile, Waterfall or hybrid project environments
- Proficient in tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft 365, and business process modelling tools
- High attention to detail, with strong organisational and analytical skills
- Experience in business process reengineering and change management
- Understanding of risk, compliance, or audit in financial environments
- Relevant certifications (e.g., PRINCE2, AgilePM, IIBA)
