Responsibilities
As a Senior Design Technician within the Temporary Works team in Melbourne, you will:
- Lead and mentor junior technicians, fostering their technical growth and supporting their career development through hands-on guidance and knowledge sharing.
- Manage and deliver temporary works design documentation for a diverse range of projects, including major infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and residential developments.
- Utilise advanced software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Common Data Environments (CDE) like BIM360/ACC to produce high-quality, compliant documentation and ensure seamless project collaboration.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and key stakeholders to assess construction methodologies, develop innovative solutions, and ensure all temporary works are designed with safety, efficiency, and compliance at the forefront.
- Ensure adherence to Australian Standards, local authority requirements, and best-practice drafting protocols, proactively identifying risks and implementing robust procedural controls to maintain project safety and integrity.
- Coordinate workloads, delegate tasks, and support the team lead in managing project timelines and deliverables, ensuring the highest standards of technical oversight and client satisfaction.
- Drive continuous improvement by seeking opportunities to optimise design processes, incorporate new technologies, and contribute to a culture of innovation and technical excellence.

Skills Required
Technical Skills:
- Extensive experience (7+ years) in drafting and documenting temporary works structures using Revit, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency with Common Data Environments (BIM360/ACC) for collaborative project delivery.
- Solid understanding of concrete and steel detailing, construction methods, and their influence on temporary works design.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, local authority, and government drafting requirements.
- Ability to manage and deliver to production schedules, ensuring quality and compliance at every stage.
- Familiarity with risk management and procedural controls specific to temporary works, aligning with industry best practices.
- Strong leadership capabilities, with a passion for mentoring and developing others.
